I had forgotten,

That gut wrenching pain,

Of not being on the same page,

Where expectations create disappointment,

Where two people learning about each other,

Really don't know each other at all,

Where the tears swelling in my eyes,

Aren't known to him,

And his silence is not known to me,

Where the potentials face reality,

The uncomfortable experience feels devastating,

And you go from excitement to confusion in a matter of hours,

I don't have the answers of where we go from here,

Do I laugh off a miserable night,

That I thought was going to be filled with joy,

Is this a telling tale,

Of those few things that once felt like happy little differences,

That I would smile at because we are not cut from the same cloth,

But somehow we still feel tied together,

Do I approach this as a growing pain,

Because a relationship is not built on perfection,

Is this the moment I cut and run,

Because we officially have past what has felt like fun,

I don't know,

But I don't want him to go,

Maybe my heart in my stomach is a sign of our potential,

Enough care to feel sickened over something or someone,

Enough to make me feel scared,

Unprepared,

For the reality of this relationship,

Or maybe, the silence that sits behind the text messages,

the lack of comfort within his communication,

Maybe last night his lack of questions has his answers already written,

I don't know,

But I hope he doesn't want me to go.
