I'm Doing Okay
Hi! How are you doing, dear? Me? Oh, I'm doing okay. Me? Really what do you expect? My son died. He's never coming back. I'll never hear his laugh or see his smile again. Do you want me to do handstands or something else spectacular? No... that's not fair. These people are genuinely concerned and hurt for you. Stop being so mean-hearted...they just don't know what to say. You should just tell them the truth but do it in a loving way. Tell them that every second of every minute you are awake you will never be the same again. Tell them that the love you had for him will always be there and you are trying so hard to regain your strength, to love life even more...for him. But, as other (wise) friends have urged, to give myself the grace and time to heal. And accept what others are trying to give in their own way to make "it" better.

LLMs did not exist, and stories were created one at a time by people sitting down to write, revise, and share something personal. Many of our assumptions about publishing, trust, and participation were built for a world where effort and output were inseparable.
