A glorious giant
a towering testament
to time and place
older than the nation
on which you stand
you don't talk but
you speak volumes
of survival
the hurricanes
the droughts
the floods
the summer storms
you've stood through it all
you've stood for it all
you've stood with it all
the little creatures
call you home
they don't worry
they know your
faithfulness
steadfast through
the seasons
your capacious canopy
providing shelter
from the heat of day
the rains
the cold winds
your bountiful boughs
bending but not
breaking
you are not
just an oak tree
you are God's
masterpiece
you were thought of
in the beginning
of time
the idea of you
started before
the Garden of Eden
and so was the
idea of me
and now here
i stand gazing
in awe
in admiration
of all
that you are
for the glory
of our Creator.
The Ancient of Days.
