Radiance in Shadow

On the Bond of Joy and Sorrow

Love binds me where it hurts, both sweet and stern,

A shining chain that dazzles, then deceives.

Its fire consoles while making spirit burn,

It crowns with hope, then steals what it bestows.

I see delight appear, then swiftly turn,

Like morning light pursued by heavy eves.

The heart climbs high, then falters as I learn

That joy is carved from grief each moment grows.

Still I am drawn into the restless flame,

A single glance can set the night alight.

In loss I keep the treasure once I claimed,

In sorrow I still call his name at night.

So light and shadow live as one accord,

They fight within, yet leave the soul restored.

Beautifully done. I haven't even attempted the sonnet prompt yet. It's a very difficult form, and you made it sing.
