Unspoken Words

When the words are trapped in your soul, but actions still shine through.

By Abi Rose TravisPublished about 8 hours ago 1 min read

She’s yet to say those famous lines

But shows her heart in woven signs

Refilling mugs and warming hands

A touch that says what words can’t span

A stolen glance, your favourite drink,

A laugh that’s meant for you and her.

She says I adore you, and lets that bloom

In tiny ways that fill the room

Your jacket waits ready by the door

A gentle proof she’ll do much more

Each gesture’s quiet, pure, and slight

Affection glowing in the light

So though her lips have yet to shape the phrase

Her actions love you in countless ways

She feels it thrumming in her chest

A secret she can’t quite confess

For love once shattered what she knew

Left scars where gentle moments grew

She holds the words behind her teeth

Afraid they’ll vanish underneath

That if she speaks, the spell will break,

And all she’s built will drift, opaque

It’s safer in the quiet space

To show her heart, but not her face

So she whispers fondness, soft, restrained

While love unspoken still remains
