It's A Work Day!
Yes, it is an anonymous time, as names and faces cannot be shown. I can't share too much, anything that may identify anyone, except me. It is nanaboozhoo story time today. Then again, it may not be as there is not much snow on the ground on this day. Tomorrow will be different; we could have a fresh 7 or 8 inches of snow. After reading about 103 weather in other parts of the world, where they have summer now, I don't mind our weather. So what story will I tell if I need snow on the ground to tell a nanaboozhoo story? How about this one? Several years ago now, I was at a Tiospye (extended family or community group in the Dakota language), and an elder Lakota woman was telling this story, and her granddaughter was interpreting in English. Iktomi is a spider and a trickster. There were probably 15 to 20 people listening to the story. I've told this story over the years and have had some interesting comments.

Nonsense Poetry Contest
Author's Note: Poem a Day in February (PaDiF) is fun for everyone who joins in. There are prizes for placing like pictured above, their are booklets that have your poems in. I write poetry every day on PaDiF for fun and for encouragement. I am not entered in most of the contests. This year two regulars stepped up and donated prizes and agreed to be my partner in this endeavor. We will get a new writer on occasion. I have fun with the regulars all year long as we have one day a month where we rhyme. Below, please find three poems of the five that placed:

Water Ceremony At The Mississippi River
We were especially pleased with the sun up in the sky today! And I talked about how much energy the sun gives me in the winter. I have never been diagnosed with seasonal affective disorder (SAD), but I believe I have it. My energy is like night and day when the sun hasn't been out for a few days.

Two People, Going In Opposite Directions
Fiction prompt: Start or end your story with two characters going in opposite directions (literally or figuratively). What this brought back to me was a friend I met in recovery. He was every bit a Heyoka (they are contrary). When looking it up to give a description, it was attributed to the Sioux; the Lakota, and the Dakota people.
