Your New Year Already Sucks. Top Story - January 2023.
It’s my most favorite time of the year. And, no, I am not referring to Christmas, even though it just passed. The beginning of a new year is ripe with memes of failure. If you follow any of the popular success coaches or influential promoters of how to obtain wealth, you will know that failure is a key component of success. Because failure is not the opposite of success. Failure is good, great even. However, it’s only beneficial if you learn from it. Apply it. Adapt and revise. After all, doing the same thing over and over expecting different result is the definition of insanity. While I am not a big proponent of “New Year’s Resolutions,” I do thoroughly believe in having goals and direction.

What’s Your Christmas Tree Personality?
When I first thought about how to identify personality types for Christmas trees, high school cliques and cliches came to mind. How fun would it be to find out if you were still a jock, Goth, nerd, or wallflower. Then my background as an academic coupled with recent professional developments kicked in. Was this topic DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) compatible? Categorizing people based on types of Christmas trees is laden with issues.

The Glass Menagerie: Laura Wingfield
The Glass Menagerie: Main Character? I love healthy debate, especially in the classroom. Is there a debate for who the main character is in Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie? After many years, I have had time to rethink some of my initial thoughts about Laura Wingfield. Originally, I only looked at Laura as a minor character made major in my mind because I love exploring the marginalized. Upon further thought, it is the sheer uniqueness of Laura that brings her to the spotlight, not just the fact that the play is premised on everyone waiting for Jim’s arrival.
