The London I've been discovering is usually off the well-beaten track.I love the nooks and crannies and walking along the streets steeped in centuries worth of history. I'm fond of Zone 1 because that's where it all began centuries ago.

MONUMENT
I was looking at the weather for days before visiting. I finally chose a sunny winter morning and headed down to the Monument. I thought I'd go early and miss the crowds, only to find out it was closed. Due to the strikes, the Monument was closed. Alas, I've been unable to get pictures from the top. Maybe another time.

A Breath Of Fresh Air
London is fortunate to have so much green space. Did you know it can be classified as a forest? I’m not making it up. It’s true. London is the largest urban forest in the world. Who classes what a forest is? The United Nations classifies a forest as having 20% trees. London is 21% trees. Super happy to hear this.

The Remarkable Roman Wall Find at 35 Vine Street, London
I've walked past Vine Street countless times, but I never imagined that beneath the ground level could lie such deep history. But then again, it is the Square mile, so the probability of it being associated with Roman Londinium is always very high.

Mudlarking On the Thames
Going Mudlarking on a rainy day is never a fab idea. But I didn't know it would be wet and miserable when I booked my ticket. Plus, my local train station was closed, so I had to take the bus, which took me directly to the Millennium Bridge in St Paul's. Mood - grumpy. Not a good start, but as they say, the show must go on.

AN OASIS IN PICCADILLY
Green Park was my escape from the four walls of the Corporate Office world, usually each day. I enjoyed exiting the air-conditioned offices to breathe fresh air in the Park. I'd either go early or after the lunchtime rush because, on a sunny day, the Park filled up pretty quickly with office workers.

OOH, LA LA - PARIS CALLING…
I love train journeys, and one of my favourite journeys is from London to Paris. I enjoy going to Paris for the day. For the day, I hear you ask? Yes, for the day. The beauty of London - Paris is now only 2 hours and 12 minutes on the Eurostar from St Pancras.
