My Experience with CPR
I can’t recall the exact time a call for help rang into my room but early Friday morning, I heard the panic filled scream of a family friend, Amanda, followed by the chaos of finding my grandfather unresponsive. I sat up in my room. I can’t recall if I had been sleeping or not at the time. Regardless, the sound caused by my father screaming made me realize that something was wrong.

As a male who has now been on this earth 28 years I can say that I have broken out of the Masculinity Prison. However, I am certainly still on probation with a plethora of re-programming still to do. How To Make Friends in Your 30s
Growing up, especially for girls, friends are imperative. They were the lifeline to surviving our teenage years. Of course, these friendships weren't always easy. They were filled with plenty of drama, break ups, and the occasional little push and shove. OK, maybe the verbal and sometimes physical debacles were just my friends and me, but for every shove and insult came hugs, tears, and promises of friendship forever. What can I say, that's how central New Jersey girls roll. Ha!

Her Name Is My Name Too
I've been in love before, so much so that there are times I believe I still am...in love with my ex-boyfriend that is. We'd known each other since junior high, same class 7th and 8th grade, and boy did I have a crush on him (he was gorgeous in every way possible). He asked me to our eighth grade prom (I'm from NYC, we had 6th and 8th grade proms) and thanks to our meddlesome homeroom teacher, Ms. Cee (C is for cockblock, who was quite colorist and self-loathing — that's a whole 'nother story), he ended up taking another, fairer skinned girl.

Learn to Live
I spent enough time in the shadows to know that the edge of everything is nothing. I've spent enough time digging through broken and buried memories only to bring up the past over and over again. I was judged and bullied. I was the underdog who came out alive, bruised and battle-worn. I've never been everyone's cup of tea and looking back, I'm glad I never fell into that stereotypical archetype. I'm ecstatic that I broke the mold when society told me to sit down and color. I'm glad because the picture that I've painted is so much more beautiful.

Sex, Kids and the Single Woman!
I urge you to read through this post before you comment. Young, nice body, and four kids by different men is not a good look for any female. Unless you have recently been divorced or widowed, you are an exception to this popular opinion. I am referring to women who are competent and choose to make poor sexual decisions. I understand that slip-ups happen during a moment of intimacy, and I understand your choice to live a wild and loose lifestyle. Do know that there are consequences for each of the previous actions that can result in a child or two.

Sadness
Have you ever been having a good day only to come home and have your heart and soul shattered by four words? Have you ever felt the excruciating pain of feeling your heart disintegrate inside your chest? Trust me when I tell you, it is not a pleasant feeling. It does not feel good to come home from work and have your husband tell you he wants a divorce. The tidal wave of emotion that runs through you so hard and so fast that even your fingertips tingle. Like electricity is going to start sparking off of your digits.
