Here it is, folks: the World Series. The Fall Classic. It's always special every year, but this year's it's extra special. This year, it's the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Two of the most hallowed teams in baseball, and the two biggest payrolls in the league right now. Now, before I start this recap, I want to call out something.

2024 World Series Preview
A wild, crazy, and thrilling 2024 season will end with, perhaps, the greatest World Series in the last 30 years. I do love the Fall Classic, it's a terrific end to the marathon known as the baseball season. The World Series, in its current form, has existed since 1903, and had served as the only form of postseason baseball for almost seven decades. Since 1969, the road to the Fall Classic has added more bumps in the road, but the end result is always awesome.

What Went Wrong: Mets' Magical Run Ends in LA
Wow! What a run, huh? I've said many times before that the scrutiny that has been hurled towards the New York Mets has been unfair. Yes, it's easy to make fun of the Mets and say that the team's a bunch of screwups, but here's the thing: they've won a pennant in the last decade. Until a few days ago, not even the Yankees could say that. The sentiment a few months ago was that this season was dead, the Mets would not go anywhere, and Pete Alonso would be gone after this year. Even as the Atlanta Braves struggled due to an immense number of injuries, nobody had the Mets joining the postseason party.

What Went Wrong: 76 Years
First off, let's get the happiness part over with! The New York Yankees are in the World Series for the first time since 2009! Now, I know that 15 years is a cup of coffee in baseball. I'm not one of those "woe is me" Yankees fans who act like 15 years without a pennant is the end of the world, when so many other teams have it much worse. But even so, this is a huge deal, and I'm over the moon! So yeah, I am in happiness overload right now.

One Win Away!
After rallying to beat the Cleveland Guardians in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Friday night to take a 3-1 ALCS lead, the New York Yankees are just one win away from winning the AL Pennant for the first time since 2009. The Yankees have repeated as World Series champions a total of twelve times and out of those twelve, they accomplished the three-peat twice (1936-1938) and (1998-2000). In their over 120 year history, they have more World Series Championships than any other MLB team with 27. Plus, they have 40 AL Pennants and 21 AL East Division titles. 2009 didn't seem like it was that long ago, but to refresh your memory, the Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 to win their 27th World Series title. Hideki Matsui was named World Series MVP. Fast forward to 2024, during the regular season, one interesting slogan has been the rallying cry amongst Yankees fans and it's the following:

2024 League Championship Series Preview
Here we go, folks! The League Championship Series has arrived! I've said this many times before, I always love the semifinal rounds in sports, that last round before the big one. In the NBA and NHL, it's the Conference Finals, the NFL has the Conference Championship, and MLB has the League Championship Series. The LCS was created in 1969 as a result of the American and National Leagues splitting into two divisions, East and West, which was the result of the growing expansion and relocation in the 1960s.

What Went Wrong: Midnight Strikes
We all love Cinderella teams, don't we? We see it a lot; those teams who no one thought would make it. The teams who weren't supposed to even get to the dance--get there, and make something of it. Teams who go from rags to riches in little time, but at times, the clock can and does strike midnight on those teams. The "Cinderella" nickname for those teams is usually heard during March Madness; those really low seeds (usually 12-16 seeds) who catch lightning in a bottle and go on a run. We have seen it on the professional level as well. #8 in basketball and hockey going all the way to the 'ship--and winning it, the lowest seeds in football making a decent run, and yes, the Wild Cards who go on to win the World Series.

The World Series is an event where baseball fans from all walks of life get to experience, whether it's in person, at home, or somewhere exciting. This picture of me seen above was taken a few weeks after the Rangers won the World series. Whether you're watching the Fall Classic alone or with family or friends, there's no doubt that you'll have plenty of memories to remember forever and also to share with others. What Went Wrong: Padres Come Up Short in NLDS Thriller
The San Diego Padres have a knack for making things interesting. This year was no different. The Padres had another amazing season that saw them go toe-to-toe with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the National League West, but while the Dodgers did go on to win the West, the Padres did snag one of the National League's three Wild Card spots. The Padres snagged the 1st Wild Card position, giving them homefield in their series against an Atlanta Braves team that persevered despite being ravaged with injuries.

What Went Wrong: Witt-less
The 2024 Kansas City Royals' season has to be up there as one of the biggest turnarounds in baseball history. Think about it. Last year, this team lost 106 games. Worst record in baseball. They caught lightning in a bottle this year, and ended up winning 86 games--a 30-game improvement from last year. The Royals were in the playoff race from jumpstreet, and got in during the final week of the season, an absolutely amazing feat.
