embrangle
Embrangle: to perplex or confuse Despite being a new word to me, I love the look, sound and meaning of it. The arrangement of letters remind me of a long, tangled dogâs leash; itâs pronunciation is almost onomatopoeic and the meaning resonates strongly.

defenestration. Top Story - October 2024.
Defenestration: throwing a person or object out a window * Connection to me: Many decades ago, when the earth was green⊠Italian was one of my High School subjects. Note, I never claimed to have learnt Italian! Sadly, I was least proficient in it, out of all my subjects However, for some bizarre reason, finestra is one of the few Italian words I still recall. Apparently finestra originated from a similar Latin word fenestra. From there, itâs just a tiny skip to defenestration! Whilst clearly not a wise or kind action, it certainly makes for a dramatic scene in a book or movie!

The Southern Cross
The Southern Cross shines Waits, beckons, draws me back home To The Great South Land. *** Written for the Sky-ku challenge. The Southern Cross is my favourite constellation. It brightens my night sky, as it did with sailors of old, leading them here to Australia.
