On the Edge of a 1800s Hong Kong Graveyard . Top Story - July 2023.
I look out the window of my apartment. It's a graveyard out there. Not good vibes, or favorable Feng shui, as they say here. The tombstones line up in rows beneath my bedroom window. I check to make sure my bed isn’t facing the same direction. The atmosphere grows heavy.

Tell Me Why I Don’t Like Memoirs
Damon, a ghostwriter, finished editing yet another memoir he had written for a successful business person. Someone who climbed the corporate ladder and managed to become CEO of a large company, for a few years. And then, reading between the lines (Damon was good at that), the CEO was let go for underperformance.

Seven LGBTQ Clichés Over Christmas
[DRAFT] At the Mud Creek Saloon in Eagle River, I see American flags on the walls, pitchers of beer on the bar, and drawn-out guitar solos ring in my ears. From what I've seen on TV, this is the type of place where they kick the shit out of gay characters. Or shoot them dead in the parking lot.

Trouble In Turin
The world’s finest art museum is in Turin. Ranked highly not because it has the Mona Lisa (that’s in Paris), or because of the number of paintings it holds (a modest number), or its architecture and/or aesthetic (outstanding btw). It’s the best because it’s the only museum in the world where you can pay a few dollars for admission, and sit alone in a gallery crammed with Picassos and Matisses and gaze at them blissfully in silence.

Bad Songs in Good Films
Don’t you love it when a song, one you’ve forgotten, one that's stale, so old-fashioned that it will never be listened to again, makes an appearance in a film or TV show...and by blending with the show's plot is just totally AWESOME?

A Tingle in Time
The night is alive and full of promise. I walk toward the quay and the crowds. Something will happen tonight that will pull my life toward its destiny. With a sense of destiny, feeling the tingle of the chill breeze, I watch the people stroll past, knowing they are part of this special moment. My aunt had schizophrenia, does it feel like this? She often came to our door at 3am with 'messages'. Am I her? I should go home until this feeling goes away. On the way, just in case, I keep my eyes open for anyone special.
