HELL HALL
Darkness choked him. It choked him every night. There was nowhere left for him to run. Solitude, loneliness, and fear loomed in the air as thick as morning fog. Where could he go to hide? He jumped into bed, clutched the covers up around his neck, wedged the blanket under his feet, and prayed for comfort from the watchers, ghosts, unseen visitors, monsters, and those unwanted and uninvited specters that always come from the other world into the room where he slept. They invaded his will, his mind, and his soul. Eyes filled with piercing vapors and encircling flames stood by his bed one again. Fearing the faintest touch from them, he flinched as if electricity leaped from the wall socket of its own will onto the bed. Unspoken words from childhood prayers stood at the gate but refused to be spoken. Needing a release to fight off the creatures from some niche forgotten by the world, Scott, a man now eighteen years old, took his normal last available escape from the torment covering him. Seeking to retain his sanity, grasping sleep, a form of release, or so he thought, he rode the familiar reserved seat on a fast-moving beam of light that thrust small spiral-shaped shards into uncharted regions where, if one wasn’t vigilant, arms of the aggressor would seize the living light unwilling to relinquish the flame of one’s soul.

The Night The Woods Went Silent
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The dull light casting out of the dusty and cobweb-filled window was enough to cause all life in the woods to just suddenly stop all the creatures in the wood, dead in their tracks.

Tales from the Jar
The Girl The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Since that night the girl had continued to visit the cabin, the mysteries inside pulling her back night after night. With a sharp pop she dislocated her thumb, she barely flinched. Tugging, she removed her hands from the chains that bound her to her bed and slipped off into the night.

The Long Weekend in the Woods
“The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window.” The Scout leader began the story in a hushed voice. Around the campfire, a dozen Scouts sat hunched on wooden benches in a wide circle. Some roasted marshmallows with sticks from the surrounding forest. Others cracked jokes and jostled quietly with one another. A few gazed into the coals of the lively fire with vacant eyes, tired from a day in the woods and on the water.

Potter's Cabin
"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night a candle burned in the window." The flame from the campfire crackled. Scout Master Henry Thompson looked around at his troop. Ten pairs of wide eyes stared back at him. " You may have heard the stories about Troop 49, before. You may have heard them called the lost troop. You may have thought they were just a story to keep young scouts in line, but they were as real as you and me. And many believe they saw a candle burning in the window of the cabin the night they disappeared." Henry looked over his shoulder glancing nervously at the woods behind him. Then lowering his voice, he continued.

Should Have Checked
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night a candle burned in the window. One night in particular, that is, every three years. August 1st to be exact. The funny thing about time, is its insatiable hunger for recollection. Legacy, memories, legends and lore are at some point sentenced to be consumed and passed through the ethereal bowels of time. Some legends and lore however, are too imposing to be fully devoured. They're spared the digestion of forgetfulness, even if they come out on the other side gnarled and barely recognizable. This legend however, is the most crucial to preserve. Not for the sake of those who share in it's history, but for those who wish to avoid the consequences of ignoring it.

Pandemic
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The brightness of the flame cut through the night, attracting moths and bugs, yet there was nothing and no one else around to see the peculiar happening but those inside of the dilapidated structure. Three friends, bereaved and spooked, sat on the floor together in a circle, staring worriedly at a box in one of their hands, a Ouija board pushed to the side and forgotten.

The Cat Eyed Creature
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The cabin was owned by two brothers back when men newly settled in these lands. Then men disappeared one night and nothing was left but overturned furniture and the candle in the window. The candle would light every now and then. When its flame lit up the cabin, the whole of the forest seemed a darker place. People who went to investigate the candle were never seen again. It seemed the only ones that were safe in the forest were the cats. For as long as anyone can remember, it was the strays that owned those wooden lands. And, when the candle was lit, the people that lived on the outskirts of the woods would see their yellow green eyes glaring at them from the inside. Lifetimes passed and the story of the brothers turned into a folk tale and the cabin stayed abandoned. The woods were abandoned by man as nature had seemingly claimed it. You would think that people of the town would all know this about the woods, but two people in particular had never heard the rumors. On one sad day, these individuals found out how truly terrifying the unknown can actually be.

The Mirror
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. It was Cyrus, the youngest of the group, who noticed it first. “Look, Mommy,” he said to Melissa, pointing through the gap in the woods to the cabin in the distance. Melissa turned white as a ghost as she saw the faint distant light, and her heart raced as she pondered what this could mean.
