Skimmerhorn Valley
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night a candle burned in the window. A group of cowboys had stopped on a boarder of an unknown forest and were starting to make camp there, despite the local natives’ warnings about this particular route. The ranchers were in a hurry to get back to their homes on the other side of the mountains however, so when they came to the split in the valley path that would lead them south, they voted to go north along the forest edge to save them a day’s ride instead. The seven men came across the small 500 square foot two story cabin just as it was about to get dark and decided it would be a nice change of pace to sleep inside on the wood floors and loft. A couple of hours before sundown, one of the men heads out to gather some firewood.

Slaughtered
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The cabin had been shored up, and my camping friends wanted to know why. I hesitated before telling them the truthful story about what happened on that fateful night when Benjamin Soul and his family mysteriously lost their lives. It was a story I had kept secret for many years so as to not stop campers from coming back here.

Hope
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. We were surprised to see the light, and excited. A sort of buzz went through my band, and several of us blurted out involuntary noises of excitement. Where there is a light like that, there are people.

Cravings
The area around my wound itches like crazy today. I still don’t understand why Tom went crazy at the club the other night and bit me. Would have torn my whole arm off if the bouncers hadn’t pulled him off and threw him out. Joe and I tried to find him some time later but he must have walked home because he was nowhere to be found.

None So Blind
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Paige stood in the clearing, seeking light, but anticipating only darkness and a lonesome, cold, damp walk home. As she waited in the quiet, she heard the strike and sizzle of a flame being born, and then, as if it had always been, the candle beacon glowed to life. Paige watched, amazed.

The creatures
"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window." In 1997, Eaglestone Elementary decided to go camping near a cabin in the woods. The teacher prepared everything and everyone. They went at noon just as they were about to eat. They arrived at 12:10 AM and started a fire, they made s’mores and everything. After some activities and songs, it was bedtime. Then after washing and brushing, everyone went to their tents and slept. Then a student named Alicia needed to use the restroom, so she grabbed a shovel, toilet paper, and headphones. She then went outside, and dug a hole, and did her business. When she was almost done, she felt something like 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐠. It didn’t bother her at first, but then it got 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞... Her eyes started to glow purple; her skin turned pale with purple veins. She was dizzy… She felt like she needed to puke. Then… She just ran. Simply anywhere. Then daylight came and the students who shared the tent with Alicia, (Cathy, June, Juniper) found out she was gone. They tell the teacher and go to search for her. They searched around for 10-15 minutes but still couldn’t find her, so they decided to go back to camp. Just as they headed back another boy also started feeling something in his ears. The teacher goes back to school to get medicine. Just as the teacher went back, the boy got dizzy and looked very pale just like Alicia. The boy then continued to puke all over the place. And soon enough he went insane, he cracked his own neck and started to crawl away. The remaining students were terrified of what they just saw and huddled together. Then nighttime came and they had to sleep. Luckily, one of the students volunteered to go outside and keep guard. After about 5 hours he also needed to use the restroom, so he grabbed the materials he needed, and did his business. Just like the others he feels something in his ears and slowly turns pale. He falls to the ground but this time he explodes and little, tiny bug like creatures come out of him. Then daylight breaks out again and they all wake up. Then they realized the boy was gone and got more scared. After 20 minutes in, they see 20, 20-year-olds who look pale just like the infected, chasing them slowly. Everyone is horrified and runs for their life. June, Juniper, and Cathy all stay together for protection. After running for about 10 minutes, they see 5 more of them and decides to take out the sharpest objects they have. Cathy used 2 spears to puncture 2 of them. Juniper knows archery so he uses a bow and arrow to knock some out. June uses a hammer to hit them in the head. Blood, and guts are all splattered across the area. Everyone is covered in blood and standing next to dead corpses. After the bloody fight, they see a tent nearby and open it. They see a compass and a notebook inside that has red letters that spell out, “Run, run, don’t ever come back!” After reading it, they use the compass to find a way back to school. Nearly after 25 minutes they finally arrive and tell the principal. The principal calls 911 and gives the children clean clothing to wear. The police arrive followed by the snipers and the FBI. They search the area for remaining students and kill the infected. When they were almost done, they see a girl in a cabin lighting up a candle. But there was no cabin near the area... Did the girl in the cabin appear out of nowhere? She then came out of her cabin and the look on the police were petrified. She came out as a monster who was purple with pale skin and purple veins and came up to the police and strangled them all. Now the place is known as the "haunted cabin in the woods."

Heart of the Woods
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Humans do silly things sometimes; they are so scared of the dark that they often don't think of the things they invite with something as simple as a flickering candle. They may have made it to the morning with their organs intact if they had just broken in and stayed quiet. The mental giant we are talking about was on the lam after accidentally killing the clerk in a failed liquor store robbery. The good choices roll to hiding in our woods in an abandoned cabin. Winner.

A Dark Light
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The flickering light looked out of place, surrounded by the inky blackness of the night sky, yet it persisted. Its job was simple; act as a beacon in the dark and attract any wayward traveler—beast or human. The owner of the flame had no real preference, however, humans presented more of a challenge. He liked a challenge, but it made no actual difference. Beast or human would meet the same end. Death for them, sustenance for his master and leftover scraps for him.
